Anatoly Chubais was appointed CEO of RUSNANO in September 2008. RUSNANO was set up in 2007 to enable the commercialization of nanotechnology innovations by investing in high-tech projects, developing infrastructure, and supporting education for professionals in the industry. From 1998 to 2008, Mr. Chubais was Board Chairman at UES and oversaw its restructuring. Prior to that, he served in served in several roles in the Russian government, including First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister (simultaneously from 1997 to 1998) and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office (1996-97). While serving as Chairman of the State Federal Property Management Agency (1991-94), Mr. Chubais authored and coordinated Russia’s privatization program.
Mr. Chubais graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Engineering and Economics in 1977 and earned his PhD in Economics in 1983.
