Entrepreneurship: Russia Reality and Foreign Flavor

DAY TWO, 15:00-16:15

The transition of Russia into a market economy was rife with opportunistic entrepreneurialism. People from all walks of life profiteered as the old industrial complex was carved up into the new privately owned vehicles. But as the economy evolves, the new entrepreneurs – grassroots businessmen with good ideas, who have built companies from the ground up – have come to the fore. Individuals are starting and successfully growing thriving organizations throughout the country and across every industry. They face pressures that any businessmen might face elsewhere in the world together with the pressures of doing business in Russia.

  • What challenges do they face?
  • How effectively are they able to bring Western ideas to Russian challenges?
  • What drives them?
  • How do they see the future in Russia?

We ask several of the most prominent new entrepreneurs to tell us their story and help us understand more about their world.
