Banks: From Crisis Management to Future Growth?

DAY TWO, 11:00-12:15

After several years of dynamic credit growth funded heavily by external borrowing and little regulatory imperative to push for reform of the sector or consolidation, the global financial crisis has been a major challenge for the Russian banking sector. In this panel session, we assemble a group of experts from different parts of the banking spectrum – from the regulator, the key state banks, the leading privately-owned banks and foreign players, and industry experts. Up for discussion will be the key questions of what lessons the banking sector can take from the crisis, and what the implications are for the sector going forward, ranging from long-term funding issues, to risk management, the competitive landscape and the future drivers of growth.
