Polyus Gold is an international company, the leading gold producer in Russia and one of the world’s largest gold producers in terms of production volumes, mineral resources and market capitalization.
Headquartered in Moscow, Polyus Gold develops and mines hardrock gold and alluvial deposits in Krasnoyarsk Region, Irkutsk Region, Magadan Region, Amur Region, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republics of Kazakhstan, Romania and Kyrgyzstan.
In 2008, the Group produced 1.2 mln troy oz of gold, or about 23% of total Russian gold production. The Group’s proved and probable reserves, estimated in accordance with JORC Code classification, amount to 74.1 mln oz as of January 1, 2009.
In Russia, Polyus Gold shares are traded on MICEX and the RTS. In the UK, the company’s ADRs are listed and traded on the LSE, while in the US its ADRs are traded over-the-counter. Since August 2009, Polyus Gold has held a 50.1% interest in KazakhGold Group, one of Kazakhstan’s major gold producers.
