MRSK of Center and Volga Region transmits electricity and provides technological connections to electricity grids in Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Kirov, Nizhni Novgorod, Ryazan and Tula regions, as well as Mari El Republic and Udmurtia Region. The company is a natural monopoly in this segment. Its market is rather large, covering a territory of 414,000 km2 and a population of 14 mln people (more than 10% of Russia’s population). Its branches supply power to companies in the oil, manufacturing, metals, pulp and paper, and chemicals sectors, as well as railroad, agriculture and construction companies, and housing and public utilities. Its tariffs are set by regional governments.
MRSK of Center and Volga Region manages more than 262,000 km of overhead cable transmission lines, 58,100 transformer substations, 557 distribution centers and 1,541 power stations with capacity of 35kV and up. Its installed capacity is 27,920 MVA.
The company was established in 2007, and its central office is in Nizhni Novgorod. Its largest shareholder is IDGC Holding (the state holds 52% of its charter capital). MRSK of Center and Volga Region shares are included on the RTS and MICEX “B” quotation lists.
